How Does Hal Take On Large Engagements While Not Having a Large Permanent Staff?

Unlike larger firms whose fundamental economics are geared to the purchase and sale of manpower at a profit, Hal sells Brainpower, not manpower. Application of his concept results in comparatively lower fees and costs while maintaining the highest degree of service quality.

For large engagements and in competition with regional and National firms, Hal obtains and leads teams of highly qualified support professionals on a project basis. He selects the members based upon their specific expertise and group efficiency applicable to the matter at hand. That, he feels, is a better choice than assigning a professional because he or she is on his payroll; none are. In addition to what he believes is a greater quality having been brought to bear, his total fees and costs for larger assignments are substantially less than that of larger firms.

On a recent engagement (an alleged fraud against investors) Hal's team members included an experienced SEC auditor, a highly regarded professor of accounting, a former head of the Criminal Investigation Division of the IRS, plus an investigative accountant who subsequently headed a team of auditors in a foreign country on behalf of an agency of the United Nations. Various firms throughout the United States having no conflict of interest also provide support to Mr. Rosenthal when needed.

For smaller engagements, Hal still uses the most appropriate and cost effective support. Plus, even when it is more efficient for him to perform a lower billing rate service on his own, he will charge the lower rate.

The Power Office

Hal's "customers," as such, are law firms. With rare exception, any face-to-face meetings as may be required take place at lawyers' offices. Having clearly no need of premises for the purpose of reception, Hal's office choice is geared to production. As a result, his fully complete and effective work facility is located at his residence.

His choice made more convenient the providing of services to clients located in different time zones, increased his general availability and eliminated the need to incur overhead costs in the form of premises rent expense that might otherwise increase billing rates.

Seminars
Practical Tips On Using Economic Damages Experts In Complex Commercial Litigation

It is a one-hour, PowerPoint presentation; first given in January 2005 to 35 litigation attorneys of a major NYC law firm. Comment from contact attorney, "I discussed Hal's presentation with some of my colleagues and they were all impressed with his level of knowledge and expertise."

Debits & Credits For Lawyers©

Many lawyers involved in commercial litigation matters are obliged to deal with accounting issues but have very little understanding of accounting. Relying solely on experts doesn't fill the bill.

Hal has developed a painless way of having attorneys obtain a practical working knowledge of the core concepts of accounting in two hours.

The training is fun and enables the participants to be more effective and confident at deposition and trial, increases their understanding of accounting transactions and promotes better communication with accounting and financial experts. The knowledge is particularly useful in matters involving fraudulent transfers and business damages.
